Universities are the cradle of nurturing national elites. Based on the concept of “Technical Professional, Humanities Care,” Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology, in addition to providing professional curricula, set up an Extracurricular Activities Guidance division to promote student association activities. Furthermore, the division encourages and guides students to participate in various clubs in order to develop personal interests for their leisure time. All of the activities are carried out based on students’ autonomy. The goals are, through joining clubs’ activities, to enhance students’ abilities of leadership, interpersonal communication, teamwork, and social care. The primary purpose of the division is to implement the educational objectives of "cultivating students' core competencies of self-improvement, lifelong learning, communication and coordination, team work, professional skills and practice, caring for life, and service learning" so as to achieve the goal of whole-person education.
